Rigor

Medical Disclaimer

Last updated: August 19, 2026 · Version 2026-08-19-training-programs

Rigor is an informational and self-tracking tool. It is not a medical device and it does not provide medical advice. Read this before using the fasting, training, nutrition, sleep, or mobility features, and before beginning any structured training program.

1. General

Rigor (the "App") is an informational and self-tracking software application published by Atlas Peak Media, LLC ("we," "us," "our"). The App is intended solely for general informational and personal fitness self-tracking purposes. The App is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

2. Not Medical Advice

Information, content, features, prompts, insights, charts, suggestions, articles, and any other material provided by the App (collectively, "Content") are for informational purposes only. The Content is not intended to be and should not be construed as medical advice or a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare provider. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have read or interacted with in the App.

3. Not a Medical Device

Rigor is not cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulatory body as a medical device. The App does not diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Features that display health data (including heart rate, sleep, weight, body composition, blood glucose estimates, or similar) are estimates derived from sensor or user-entered data and should not be used for clinical decision-making.

4. Consult Your Physician

Before beginning any fasting protocol, exercise program, nutrition plan, supplement regimen, sleep intervention, or mobility routine suggested or tracked by the App, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional. This is especially important if you have any medical condition (including but not limited to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hypotension, thyroid disorder, kidney or liver disease, adrenal insufficiency, gout, or cancer); have a history of or are at risk for an eating disorder; take any prescription medication, particularly insulin, sulfonylureas, blood pressure medication, anticoagulants, psychiatric medication, or any medication that must be taken with food; are pregnant, breastfeeding, or attempting to conceive; are under age 18; are over age 65; have a Body Mass Index below 18.5 or above 40; have recently undergone surgery or are recovering from injury; or have ever experienced syncope, seizures, or cardiac arrhythmias.

5. Age Restriction

The App is rated 17+ on the App Store. Rigor may be used by individuals age 13 and older. Fasting features are restricted to users who are at least 18 years of age and are disabled for younger users. By using the App, you represent that you meet the applicable age requirement. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

6. Fasting Risks

Fasting - whether intermittent, time-restricted, alternate-day, or extended - carries inherent medical risks. These risks include but are not limited to: electrolyte imbalance; dehydration; hypoglycemia (low blood sugar); hypotension (low blood pressure); lightheadedness; syncope (fainting); cardiac arrhythmia; headache; muscle cramps; impaired cognitive function; mood disturbance; gallstone formation; loss of lean body mass; hormonal disruption; menstrual irregularity; and, in cases of prolonged fasting followed by rapid refeeding, refeeding syndrome, which can be fatal. Extended fasts (24+ hours) carry elevated risk. You should not attempt any fast without understanding these risks and consulting a qualified healthcare professional.

7. Exercise and Training Risks

Physical exercise - including resistance training, cardiovascular training, high-intensity interval training, mobility work, loaded marching or rucking, sled pushing and dragging, loaded carries, swimming, and maximal or timed fitness testing - carries inherent risks of injury, including but not limited to muscle strain, ligament or tendon damage, joint injury, fracture, stress fracture, concussion, rhabdomyolysis, heat illness, hyponatremia, dehydration, exertional collapse, exertional sickling in individuals with sickle cell trait, blisters and other foot injury, lower back and shoulder injury arising from carrying external load, drowning or near-drowning during water training, cardiac events, and death. You assume full responsibility for any injury you sustain while following any workout, program, rest interval, load recommendation, or any other training Content generated by or displayed in the App. Do not exceed your current fitness level. Stop exercising and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, unusual shortness of breath, severe dizziness, or any other concerning symptom.

7A. Structured Training Programs and Prescribed Loads

The App offers structured, multi-week training programs, including programs oriented toward military fitness tests and toward preparation for demanding selection and assessment courses. These programs generate a dated schedule and prescribe specific work, which may include external load in pounds, target paces, target distances, target times, maximal-effort test events, and progressive increases in training volume and carried weight over time. This is a material difference from simply recording exercise you have already chosen to do, and you should understand it before beginning any program.

Any prescribed load, distance, pace, duration, or progression is a general suggestion produced by software from the limited information you supplied. It is not individualized medical advice, not a physical therapy prescription, and not clearance to train. No one has examined you, reviewed your medical history, screened you for cardiac or musculoskeletal risk, or supervised your technique. The App cannot see your form, your fatigue, your terrain, the weather, your footwear, or your equipment, and it does not know about any injury, illness, medication, or condition you have not entered.

Loaded marching, rucking, and other load carriage deserve specific attention. Carrying external weight over distance is associated in the published literature with high rates of overuse injury, including stress fracture, foot and ankle injury, low back injury, and nerve compression from pack straps. Risk rises with carried weight, with distance, with pace, and with how quickly load or mileage is increased. Do not add weight or distance faster than the program prescribes, and do not run under load unless you are specifically trained and conditioned for it.

Maximal and timed test events, including maximum-repetition sets, timed runs, timed shuttles, and maximum-effort lifts, carry elevated acute risk relative to sub-maximal training. Do not attempt a maximal test if you are ill, injured, sleep-deprived, dehydrated, or returning from a layoff.

Baseline values you enter, including any value you estimate rather than measure, directly determine the loads and intensities the App prescribes. An overstated baseline produces prescriptions that are too heavy or too fast for you. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter.

Impact-limited and adapted modes are convenience features that reduce ground impact. They are not a medical accommodation, not rehabilitation, and not a substitute for clearance from a qualified healthcare professional. If you are limited by injury, pain, or a diagnosed condition, consult a physician or physical therapist about whether to train at all, and follow their guidance over anything the App prescribes.

The App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States Department of Defense, the Department of War, any branch of the United States Armed Forces, any special operations command or unit, or any other government agency. Fitness test standards reproduced in the App are drawn from published sources and may be superseded at any time without notice. Nothing in the App is an official standard, an authorized preparation program, or any indication of whether you will pass a test, be selected for a course, or complete any course of instruction. Always rely on your chain of command and current governing service publications for the standards that actually apply to you.

You should obtain medical clearance before beginning any structured training program in the App, and particularly before beginning any program involving load carriage or maximal testing. Stop immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, unusual shortness of breath, severe dizziness, confusion, dark or cola-colored urine, severe or unusual muscle pain or swelling, or any other concerning symptom.

8. Nutrition and Calorie Tracking Risks

Calorie counting, macronutrient tracking, and weight monitoring can contribute to or worsen disordered eating patterns in susceptible individuals. If you have or have ever had an eating disorder, or if you feel anxious, obsessive, or distressed about food, eating, weight, or your body image, do not use the nutrition tracking features of the App without first consulting a qualified mental health professional or registered dietitian. Calorie estimates in the App are approximations and should not be relied upon for medical nutrition therapy.

9. Sleep Tracking Risks

Obsessive monitoring of sleep metrics can contribute to a condition known as orthosomnia, in which anxiety about sleep quality itself worsens sleep. Sleep data displayed in the App is derived from third-party sensors (such as Apple Watch) and user-entered data. It is not a clinical polysomnogram. If you suspect you have a sleep disorder - including but not limited to insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or restless leg syndrome - consult a sleep medicine physician.

10. Mobility and Stretching Risks

Mobility routines, warm-ups, cool-downs, and stretching carry risk of injury, particularly for individuals with hypermobility, recent injury, joint replacement, or acute inflammation. Only perform movements within your pain-free range of motion. Discontinue any movement that causes pain.

11. Supplement Information

Any supplement information referenced in the App is informational only. Supplements are not evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before taking any supplement, especially if you are taking prescription medication. The App does not sell or recommend specific brands or formulations.

12. Contraindicated Conditions

Do not use the fasting, nutrition, or exercise features of the App without direct physician supervision if you have or suspect you have any of the following: type 1 diabetes; type 2 diabetes requiring insulin; active eating disorder or history of eating disorder; heart disease; heart failure; severe hypertension or hypotension; history of syncope; history of cardiac arrhythmia; adrenal insufficiency; uncontrolled thyroid disorder; active gout; active kidney stones or chronic kidney disease; pregnancy; breastfeeding; BMI below 18.5; recent surgery; or any acute or chronic illness affected by caloric intake or physical exertion.

13. Emergency

If you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, severe dizziness, fainting, confusion, slurred speech, irregular heartbeat, severe headache, blurred vision, severe muscle cramping, seizure, or any other symptom of a medical emergency - stop using the App and call 911 (or your local emergency number) or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Do not delay seeking emergency medical care because of information you have read in the App.

14. No Doctor-Patient Relationship

Your use of the App does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, dietitian-client, coach-client, or trainer-client relationship between you and Atlas Peak Media, LLC, its owners, employees, contractors, or any other individual associated with the App. No such relationship is formed, implied, or intended.

15. Limitation of Liability

16. Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge that you voluntarily assume all risk associated with your use of the App, including all risks associated with fasting, exercise, nutrition modification, sleep intervention, mobility work, and any other activity tracked or recommended by the App. You agree that you are solely responsible for your own health decisions and outcomes.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Atlas Peak Media, LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and service providers from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these terms or your use of the App.

18. Changes to This Disclaimer

We reserve the right to modify this Disclaimer at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the new Disclaimer.

19. Governing Law

This Disclaimer shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, state of incorporation of Atlas Peak Media, LLC, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

If any provision of this Disclaimer is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
