Bastion
Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 5, 2026
This Bastion-specific policy supplements the Atlas Peak Media privacy policy and describes the data behavior of the Bastion iOS app.
Overview
Bastion is an IT certification study app for iPhone and iPad. It is designed to be local-first: your study progress, flashcard reviews, practice exam scores, and notes are created by you and stored on your device unless iCloud sync is available and enabled through Apple services.
Bastion does not require an Atlas Peak Media account.
Data Bastion Handles
Study progress: which flashcards you have reviewed, FSRS spaced-repetition scheduling state, practice exam scores, PBQ attempt history, fundamentals reading progress, and per-domain mastery estimates.
Subscription status: Apple StoreKit tells the app which certification unlocks and bundles your Apple ID has purchased. Atlas Peak Media does not receive your payment card information.
Notes and tags you enter: any user-authored notes attached to specific flashcards, lessons, or fundamentals articles.
Onboarding selections: certification focus, target exam date, study cadence preferences, and notification preferences.
Storage and Sync
Bastion stores user-authored study data locally on your device. When iCloud and the signed app configuration are available, Bastion uses Apple CloudKit private database sync for review schedules and progress.
Private iCloud data is managed by Apple under your Apple ID. Atlas Peak Media does not browse your private iCloud database.
Question pools, fundamentals articles, and lesson content are bundled with the app or downloaded as content updates and are not used for advertising.
Third-Party Services
Apple services: App Store, StoreKit, CloudKit, and LocalAuthentication support purchases, sync, and optional biometric app lock.
Bastion does not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
What Bastion Does Not Do
Bastion does not sell your study data.
Bastion does not use your study data for advertising.
Bastion does not transmit notes, review history, exam scores, or PBQ responses as analytics events.
Bastion does not receive or store Face ID, Touch ID, or biometric templates. Biometric unlock is handled locally by Apple.
Bastion does not provide proctoring, exam delivery, or guarantee certification outcomes.
Deleting Data
You can reset progress for a specific certification inside the app. You can also delete all Bastion data by deleting the app from your device. If iCloud sync is active, manage iCloud app data through Apple ID and iCloud settings.
